BlackOhm was proud to support First Army Division East during its Best Observer, Coach/Trainer (OC/T) Competition by providing real-time location tracking and physiological monitoring technology designed to enhance participant safety while maintaining the demanding standards expected of Army leaders.
Held at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, the multi-day competition challenged 13 two-Soldier teams through physically and mentally demanding events including land navigation, obstacle courses, casualty evacuation, and fitness assessments. Changing weather, including thunderstorms and rising temperatures, forced competitors to maintain critical situational awareness and required proactive medical oversight.
Advanced Monitoring Capabilities
BlackOhm deployed its Alpha Physiological Monitoring Device, enabling event leadership to monitor both competitor location and physiological indicators in real time. By combining GPS positioning with biometric data, the system provides commanders and medical personnel with a comprehensive operational picture that helps identify personnel who may be approaching elevated heat risk before symptoms become critical.
Unlike traditional safety measures that rely solely on visual observation or radio communications, BlackOhm’s technology delivers continuous monitoring throughout the event. This allows leaders to rapidly locate competitors anywhere on the course while simultaneously evaluating physiological trends that may require intervention.
The Best OC/T Competition is designed to identify the Army’s most capable trainers—leaders responsible for preparing operational units for combat. Those same leaders routinely place Soldiers through physically demanding training events, making the competition an ideal environment to demonstrate technologies that improve both operational awareness and force protection.
