CHANDLER, Ariz. — BlackOhm has received an order to provide its Alpha GPS and physiological monitoring solution to the Mississippi National Guard for Officer Candidate School land navigation training at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center.
The order includes Alpha devices along with the supplies and equipment needed to support the program. The five-year package also includes connectivity, warranty coverage, help desk assistance and network training.
BlackOhm Alpha combines GPS tracking, network communications and physiological monitoring in a single wearable device. During land navigation training, Alpha will provide instructors with real-time location visibility as candidates move independently across the training area.
That visibility can help course leaders maintain personnel accountability, monitor movement and respond faster when a candidate requires assistance. Physiological data can also provide additional awareness during physically demanding training.
“Land navigation requires candidates to operate independently across demanding terrain while instructors remain responsible for safety and accountability,” said Phillip Moore, BlackOhm account executive. “Alpha gives training leaders timely location and physiological information that helps them maintain visibility without disrupting the training experience.”
Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center covers more than 134,000 acres and supports training for National Guard, Reserve and active-duty personnel. The Mississippi Army National Guard conducts its Officer Candidate School program through the 154th Regiment Regional Training Institute at Camp Shelby.
The order covers a five-year period starting from the award date, with delivery anticipated in early 2027, followed by the implementation by the customer.
