FORT BLISS, Texas — BlackOhm Alpha provided real-time personnel tracking and physiological monitoring during a physical training event at the 2026 Gen. John J. Pershing Cup at Fort Bliss.
The PT event on Aug. 22 was part of the Army’s Best Observer Coach/Trainer competition. It featured a 12-station circuit with half-mile runs, assault bike intervals, partner fireman carries, sandbag thrusts, kettlebell exercises, and other functional fitness tasks.
Each station created a distinct physical demand. Running and assault bike work tested cardiovascular output. Partner carries challenged strength, grip, and communication under fatigue. Sandbag thrusts and kettlebell movements added repeated full-body effort.
Competitors moved through the course with limited recovery time. They had to manage pace, workload and teamwork while transitioning between stations. The format created repeated spikes in exertion as participants worked through the full circuit.

Participants wore BlackOhm Alpha devices during the event. The wearable platform provided event, safety, and medical personnel with a centralized view of participants’ locations, movements, and supported physiological measurements.
Alpha supported visibility into heart rate, estimated core temperature, skin temperature and heat strain. These measurements provided personnel with additional context as participants completed the course.
BlackOhm Omega platform displayed participant locations across the PT area. Users could select an individual to review current readings, movement history and trend graphs. These views helped connect exertion and recovery with each participant’s position and stage in the course.
The system also supported accountability. Authorized personnel could maintain awareness of where participants were operating as teams spread across the 12 stations.
After the event, leaders could use the data to support after-action review. They could examine changes in pace, workload, movement and physiological response from the first station through the final run.
BlackOhm Alpha did not replace established safety procedures, medical protocols or professional judgment. Instead, it provided an additional layer of information for authorized personnel supporting the physical training event.
